Legend was a large-scale environmental sculpture centered on a spiraling form set within the landscape of Orange Coast College. Constructed as a series of concentric curved walls, the spiral draws the eye inward while establishing a dialogue between movement, orientation, and place. A sequence of vertical columns extends beyond the spiral into the surrounding site, connecting the central form to the larger landscape. Conceived as both a physical and symbolic marker,

 

Legend explores the relationship between geometry and nature, transforming an open campus setting into a place of reflection and discovery. The project reflects Albuquerque’s early investigations into the ways geometric forms can connect the human experience to larger systems of space and time.
