A white granite obelisk and red granite pavers that align with the obelisk’s shadow stands at the center of a one hundred and sixty nine foot diameter plaza determined by astronomical calculations indicated by the length of the obelisk’s shadows as it fell at noon on the winter solstice. The stellar constellations above appear at night as pools of light on the plaza floor.
