AOR, 2006
Rock and pigment, chalk, gold leaf, dimensions vary.
Fredrick R. Weisman of Art, Pepperdine University, Malibu, California
The word AOR comes from an Egyptian Hieroglyphic meaning “magical light” or “electricity.” The root AR means “the primal element of all things” and the insertion of O, the sign of “light”, “intelligence” or “action” makes it become AOR – the activation of the primal element into light, or magical light and electricity.
AOR is the interchangeability of particles in the universe. The two dimensional map drawn directly on the wall and the three dimensional rock map on the floor are in dialogue with each other, transforming from order to chaos, and back to order.
